Adele's 25 Grammy Album

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, known as Adele, is a British singer-songwriter born on May 5, 1988, in Tottenham, London. She rose to fame with her debut album 19 (2008), followed by 21 (2011), which earned her multiple Grammys and established her as a global star. She then released 25 in 2015, that went on to win numerous awards including the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album and the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. She’s widely known for her powerful voice and signature style combining soul, pop, and heartfelt ballads.

The album 25 was produced under XL Recordings, a British independent label, and distributed internationally by Columbia Records. Columbia Records took charge of funding, marketing, and distributing 25, ensuring its massive reach.

The title 25 reflects Adele's age and the mindset she was in at that point in her life, which she describes as a "make-up record" after her previous "break-up record." Adele credits the birth of her son, Angelo, as her reason for returning to music and recording. She describes this album as a way for her to show admiration for her accomplishments and becoming a 25-year-old women. She states that in prior years all she wanted to was to be older, but with this album she can finally show appreciation for who she is in the moment. Her main inspiration for this album was her younger self. She explains it as her recognizing her growth over the years since the beginning of her career.

One of her viral songs from the album, "Hello," was written shortly after becoming a mother. The song represents how she felt a sense of missing within her life prior to motherhood and even before her fame. This song became very important in her representation of how different she is at 25 compared to her previous album at age 21. The song deeply reflects on her identity and her journey of becoming an adult, as she wanted to express a message to her adolescent self.

For my film opening, I know I want to use calm music, including lobby music to create a calm atmosphere. This will have an ironic and comedic affect on the film, as the main character is supposed to be in a hurry. Typically the audio and music would be more intense in this situation for a serious affect, however my film opening will go against these traditions by making the music ironic in an urgent circumstance.
