The Sweding Project
I worked with a few other classmates to make our film project based on a scene from the show: The Office. Overall, it was a positive experience filming however there were a few issues my group and I had experienced.
Firstly, the biggest concern was the location we were going to film in. Initially, we all agreed to meet at our local library, but we quickly realized that we had to find somewhere else to film. As I scoped out the area, I noticed that there was a lot of people around in all areas. Also, the private study rooms were way to small to film the clips that we needed to recreate. So, I sat down with my other group members to discuss other options. As a group, we decided that a nearby hotel would have a business or office room we would be able to use. We went to the La Quinta hotel a few minutes down the street and I had to speak with the front desk to ask if they had a room. Unfortunately they did not have either an office or business room, but they did have a ballroom I figured we'd be able to make work. After getting permission, we decided to settle down and start getting into costumes to film.Another small issue we had was costumes, as many of us don't have very business-like attire. I brought some clothes such as my blazer from an old class I needed them for, a button down shirt from my grandmother, and business pants I use for work. By having the proper attire, it made the mise-en-scene of for our film recreation better.
One of my group members, Gabby, did most of the filming for the scene. This went surprisingly well despite my doubts because of how difficult it looked on the show to recreate. Her iPhone 15 helped capture good quality and allowed for zooming in during the shots. The editing process also went well by using Capcut. It was fairly simple to use and we did not need to recreate any of the clips.
Despite some minor struggles with mise-en-scene and memorizing all of the lines, the overall filming process went very well. My partners and I did not have to redo takes often and had a lot of fun behind the scenes.
