Script Analysis of Forrest Gump
Today I was instructed to make an analysis based off the script of a film, similar to the genre of my own film. I decided to choose the movie, Forrest Gump, a dramatic rom-com.
The first few pages of the script immediately establishes the feather's importance, most likely with an underlying meaning that will be revealed later in the film. Forrest Gump is soon revealed, coming off as a bit odd and most likely mentally challenged. His awkwardness and lack of awareness is shown when he sparks a conversation with a nearby nurse on the same bench as him. His relationship with his mom is also somewhat displayed, as he begins to reference her in a positive manner.
When I watched the film opening, I noticed a few minor details that were not included in the script. While the feather floats in the beginning, the script does not include the background music that is in the final film. Additionally, the script also does not give much detail about his strange stance or gestures he makes. The woman in the film gives off uncomfortable energy and seems somewhat bothered by Forrest trying to speak with her--this is also not written in the script.
Overall, the script is almost exact to the film except of a few minor details that seemed to be added after the script was written.
